Overfill prevention in fuel transportation

OFP or Overfill Prevention is a level detection system. It stops the filling process of the liquid fuel when the sensor of the compartment gets wet, meaning the compartment is full.

What is needed for a fully working overfill prevention solution?

In order to manage the process automatically, it is required to install a two-wire optical sensor at the top of each compartment and a monitoring unit – GateWay or PRID-unit.

How does overfill prevention solution work?

When the 2-wire sensor enters in contact with the liquid fuel (gets wet), it sends a signal to the controlling unit (GateWay or PRID-unit). Then the unit immediately sends a signal to the solenoid valve to close the pneumatic bottom valve of the compartment. Simultaneously, GateWay sends a signal to the rack monitor at the depot and stops the pumping of the fuel to the compartment. All that process is done in seconds. However, the solenoid valve can be configured to give a control delay from 0 to 15 s.

Retain overfill prevention in fuel transportation

The Retain Overfill Prevention monitors the presence of retained liquid product in the loading/unloading API connector. The monitoring is done through a diagnostic indication from the operating wet leg sensor. This feature helps to prevent product contamination and mixing.

What is needed for a fully working retain overfill prevention solution?

The automatic process is controlled with a two-wire optic sensor at the wet leg or in the API connector of each compartment and a monitoring unit – GateWay or PRID-unit.

How does retainoverfill prevention solution work?

When loading connection is activated, the GateWay unit begins to inspect the assigned two-wire optic sensors. If the sensors indicate a wet condition, the product mixing prevention is enabled, this is indicated on the monitoring unit, and the loading connections become non-permissive.
